THE JOE PUBLIC GUIDE TO ISLAM, is aimed at non-Muslims who who want to increase their knowledge of this very important and influential religion.
It tells something of the life of Muhammad and the fact that Islam was for many years at the centre of the knowledge industry. It therefore made a contribution to the European Renaissance that followed.
It also tells of some of the more controversial recent episodes in the history of Islam and how these are impacting on the world in general. As a religion, it is currently very associated with violence.
The reader needs to be reminded that there are many interpretations of Islam, just as there are many interpretations of Judaism and Christianity, and that all religions evolve through difficult and controversial times.
